Estudio de una comunidad científica en el área de las ciencias sociales: el caso del Instituto de Filosofía y Ciencias Humanas -IFCH— de la Universidad Estatal de Campinas

Abstract

Los objetivos principales de este trabajo comprenden dos grandes ejes. En primer lugar, se trató de conocer los tipos de producción de conocimiento y los canales de comunicación que se generan dentro de una determinada comunidad científica en el área de las ciencias sociales, concretamente la del Instituto de Filosofía y Ciencias Humanas -IFCH- de la Universidad de Campiñas (Brasil). En segundo lugar, se pretendió elucidar las contribuciones que las unidades de información proporcionan dentro del proceso dinámico de producción de conocimiento. En este caso se trató de determinar las funciones, servicios y productos de la Biblioteca del IFCH, así como medir su grado de utilidad, actualización, agilidad de servicios y relación con los temas de investigación desarrollados en el Instituto. En otras palabras, se trató de comprender hasta qué punto se da una interacción entre el sector procesador (biblioteca) y el sector generador-consumidor de la información (investigadores y docentes).

The main goals of this paper pivot around two central elements. Firstly, it was the authorís intention to identify the types of knowledge production and the communication channels generated within a specific scientific community in the field of social sciencies, namely the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH), from the Universidad de Campiñas (Brazil). The second goal was to elucídate the contribution the Ítems make within the dynamic process of the production of knowledge. In this case, the aim was to determine the functions, Services and products of IFCH Library, and to measure the degree of their usefulness, updating, responsiveness and relevance to the research field chosen by the Institute. In other words, the author tries to understand how much of an interaction there is between the processing área (library) and the área which generates the information (researchers and professors).
