Diferencias sociales en la construcción de la identidad femenina contemporánea : la relación maternidad/trabajo para madres de niños infantes

Abstract

En la actualidad, la conjunción maternidad/trabajo suele ser una relación conflictiva para muchas mujeres. Si bien por una lado la maternidad continúa siendo uno de los grande ejes sobre el que se articula la identidad femenina, por el otro, las mujeres hoy ocupan y desean ocupar diversos roles que no siempre se presentan como compatibles. Asimismo, los sentidos que las distintas mujeres le dan a la maternidad por un lado, y al desarrollo profesional/laboral, por otro, no son los mismos. Las causas y necesidades (objetivas y subjetivas) que impulsan a cada mujer a salir o quedarse en el ámbito doméstico, están condicionadas por factores diversos. Entre ellos, este estudio se centra en analizar cómo las diferencias socio-culturales afectan las diversas concepciones que las mujeres se forman sobre la maternidad y el trabajo como dimensiones de su subjetividad y de su vida cotidiana. En un contexto en el que se habla de la crisis de la identidad femenina y de las contradicciones de la maternidad, esta investigación da cuenta de los contenidos de este conflicto, en base al discurso de las propias mujeres. Así, mediante entrevistas efectuadas a madres de niños infantes en la ciudad de Junín (B), se observa cómo las nociones de maternidad, trabajo y la relación entre ambas, intervienen en la construcción de la identidad femenina en los distintos sectores sociales.

At present, the conjunction motherhood / job is often a conflictive relationship for many women. While on the one hand motherhood remains one of the foundations of feminine identity, on the other, women now occupy and want to occupy different roles, not always compatible. Also, the different meanings women give to motherhood on the one hand, and professional development / work on the other, are not the same. The causes and needs (objective and subjective) that push every woman to leave or stay in her home are conditioned by various factors. Among them, this study focuses on analyzing how socio-cultural differences affect the various conceptions that women make about motherhood and work as dimensions of their subjectivity and their daily lives. In a context in which we talk about the crisis of female identity and the contradictions of motherhood, this research notices the contents of this conflict, based on the speech of women themselves. Thus, through interviews with mothers of infants in the city of Junín (B) shows how notions of motherhood, work and the relationship between them, are involved in the construction of female identity in different social sectors.
