Resumen
En este artículo examinaremos la relación entre la palabra “DROGA” utilizada en el lenguaje natural y el paradigma prohibicionista. Mostraremos que esta palabra no es expresivamente neutra sino que connota una actitud evaluativa negativa dirigida a las sustancias a las cuales se refiere y, consecuentemente, a las conductas sociales de las personas que las consumen. Analizaremos dos de los argumentos que se han dado para el reemplazo de este término. El primero lo ubicaremos como un caso particular de “la falacia filosófica”, que indica cómo se ha hecho una categoría de una característica arbitraria y se le ha puesto una etiqueta que enmascara la arbitrariedad producida en ese acto. El segundo argumento sostendrá que el término “DROGA” funciona de manera similar a cómo funcionan los peyorativos en nuestro lenguaje. Argumentamos que es mejor una estrategia de reemplazo del término por uno sin carga negativa frente a la estrategia de reapropiación, ya que funciona para enfrentar los inconvenientes apuntados por ambos argumentos. In this article we will examine the relationship between the word "DRUG" used in natural language and the prohibitionist paradigm. We will show that this word is not expressively neutral but connotes a negative evaluative attitude directed at the substances to which it refers and, consequently, at the social behaviors of the people who consume them. We will analyze two of the arguments that have been given for the replacement of this term. The first will be considered as a particular case of "the philosophical fallacy", which indicates how a category has been made of an arbitrary characteristic and given a label that masks the arbitrariness produced in that act. The second argument will argue that the term "DRUG" functions similarly to how pejoratives function in our language. We will argue that a strategy of replacing the term with a non-negatively charged one is better than the strategy of reappropriation, as it works to address both of the above arguments.
