La genética en el museo : figuras y “extras” del debate público

Abstract

El trabajo está basado en el análisis de un conjunto de veinte exposiciones consagradas a la genética realizadas en Francia, Bélgica y Holanda entre 1994 y 2002. Algunas de éstas itinerantes, provenientes de centros de cultura científicos y técnicos, de organismos de investigación, de asociaciones educativas, del Ministerio de Educación de Francia, etcétera. El corpus consta de fuentes escritas, fotografías y entrevistas. Se analiza el debate público alrededor de la genética y de qué manera se representan las exposiciones de los diferentes actores en este debate; se trata de comprender ciertos procesos socio-discursivos que operan en él. Los autores se basan en tres dimensiones enunciativas cuya articulación sirve para caracterizar el modo en que las exposiciones ponen en escena el debate público y se inscriben en él. Este índice se compone de, en principio, la representación del debate público y de sus actores, en segundo lugar por las diferentes figuras del público en la medida en que son movilizadas en el discurso de la exposición y, finalmente, por la implicación concreta del visitante en el dispositivo museográfico (en el recorrido general o frente a ciertas muestras).

This work is based in the analysis of a set of twenty expositions dedicated to genetic science in France, Belgium and Holland, between 1994 and 2002. Some of these expositions come from centres of scientific and technical culture, from research institutions, educational associations, Ministry of Education of France, etc. The corpus used consists in written archives, photographs and interviews. The former constitutes the nucleus of our analysis in this article. We focus in the public debate surrounding genetic science and the ways how this debate was represented by different actors. We also attend to understand certain socio-discursive process that operates within this debate. We bases our work in three enunciative dimension whose articulation we use to describe the way how expositions set the public debate and are inscribed on it. This index consists on: on the one hand, representations of the public debate and its actors. On the other hand the different public figures that are mobilized in the exposition’s discourse. And lastly, the public’s concrete engagement with the museum diagram (during the visit o in certain expositions).
