El Centro de Estudios Físico Matemáticos de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (1948-1950)

Abstract

El análisis de las instituciones científicas en el marco de los estudios sociales de la ciencia y la tecnología constituye una forma de aproximación a los actores, las prácticas y las estrategias incorporadas para consolidar los diversos campos disciplinares. A fines de 1940 los integrantes de un grupo de profesores universitarios, físicos y matemáticos, organizaron el Centro de Estudios Físico Matemáticos de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, organismo de alcance regional que tuvo una intensa actividad durante dos años y favoreció las condiciones de un ambiente científico con el fortalecimiento de sus problemas de investigación y perspectivas teóricas. Las comunidades de investigación nucleadas alrededor de este organismo constituyeron la base fundamental para la creación del Departamento de Investigaciones Científicas (DIC) que articuló los esfuerzos dispersos. El presente trabajo reconstruye, a partir de fuentes documentales y periodísticas, la creación y organización de ese Centro, así como su relevancia para el proceso de institucionalización de la investigación científica en la provincia (Mendoza) y la región.

The analysis of the science institutions in the frame of social studies of science and technology constitutes a form of getting closer to the actors, the practices and the strategy to incorporate and consolidate the different disciplinary fields. At the end of 1940 a group of university, physics and mathematics teachers organized the Center of Study Physical Mathematical of the Cuyo’s National University, an organism of regional reach which was in intense activity for two years. It favoured the conditions, problems and theoretical perspectives. The investigation communities which were organized this organism composed the fundamental basis for the creation of the Department of Scientific Research (DIC) which articulated the dispersed efforts. The present work reconstructs, starting from documentary and journalistic sources, the creation and organization of this Center, as well as its relevance for the process of institutionalization of the scientific investigation in the province (Mendoza) and region.
