Of provincial "outbursts" to the generalization of protests in Argentina : perspective and context on the significance of the new protests
From the provincials “break outs” to the generalizatio of the protests in Argentina. Perspective and context
in the significance of the new protests. This article focuses in two analytical axis that help to give a meaning to the new forms of social protest that emerged in Argentina in the period 1990-2000. The first axis is temporal and allows us to understand the new modalities of social conflict against the background of a historical perspective centered on action. The second is built around the changes in the political system brought by advent of the Alianza, as the context of the generalization of protest in 2000 and 2001. In both dimensions the relations of social protest with the old, and the potentially new, citizenship features is emphasized.
